5th Gup and a Broken Board--Way to Go!
Bobcat tested to move up rank in Tang Soo Do this afternoon. I know I've said this before, but I'm completely amazed by the positive, fun, rigorous testing these guys go through. The instructor actually said that the goal is to totally wear the kids down and see if they can still perform...and they do--with gusto and enthusiasm and smiles. It is really fun to watch.

So much for those peas...
Can't say I blame her...I noticed she's the mother of boys, and I certainly empathize with trying to keep them fed!

Portraits of Blessings
Beautiful Day
We had a gift of a day yesterday...it stopped raining and a delicious, fall-scented breeze came through, drying things up and freshening the air. Could it even be? SUNSHINE!

Only in Boyland...
...will a mommy get bloodied, swollen knuckles because she got struck with a sand-filled "bug box" which was catapulted by her 5-year-old and a broken rake handle. Unintentionally, of course, and truly it was impressive considering I was mowing lawn at the time. It was a "had to be there to get it" moment....and one my knuckles would rather forget.

Shipbuilder Eaglet
We've got one seriously into anything maritime over here. He's been building the Titanic in our living room for two weeks! We've read everything Titanic we can get our hands on. Anyone have good book suggestions about shipwrecks or other maritime adventures? One thing I'd particularly like to find is a good children's book about Paul's shipwreck.
Summer Over...We've Been to the Fair
A few weeks ago when the Fireweed blooms had reached the end of their stalks, we made the annual trek to the Alaska State Fair. Once again we had a great time and totally wore everyone out. One note to myself...this is the last year I share the Hawaiian Shave Ice with my brood! Gone are the days of "One bite for you...now one bite for you....now one for you...now one for mommy. Now one for you..." Oh no. They lit into that thing like a pack of wild dog puppies! Next year I'll share mine with the new baby and the other three can fend for themselves over another one.
